Once a horizontal line is completely filled, it flashes and vanishes from the board, granting you points and freeing up space. - Keep the top flat. Always aim to build a smooth, flat surface so that when awkward pieces (like the Z or S shape) arrive, you have a place to put them.
- Avoid deep wells. Try not to create narrow holes that are more than two blocks deep, because only the elusive long piece (the I-block) can fit inside them.
- Use the 'Next' piece cue. Always keep an eye on the preview showing the next incoming shape. It lets you decide exactly how to place your current piece.
- Clear stars early. Don't leave star-infused blocks sitting around just to build a pretty stack; prioritize clearing them to maximize your score multiplier.

Skimming to fix holes: If you accidentally create a 'roof' over a hole, prioritize clearing all lines above it to reopen the hole and heal your stack immediately.
