Space Monsters
What is this game?
Space Monsters is a quirkily drawn, relaxing logic sorting puzzle game. In this game, players face a variety of goofy, differently colored space monsters, and your task is to sort and organize them according to the rules. The game ditches stressful time limits in favor of a contemplative and relaxing puzzle-solving experience. It's designed for casual players who enjoy color sorting, organizing, and have a soft spot for weirdly cute alien creatures. Each level offers a short challenge, making it perfect for clearing your mind and relieving anxiety.
How to Play
The gameplay is similar to the classic 'Water Sort' or 'Ball Sort' puzzles. You will see several different tubes, spaceship pods, or platforms holding a mixed arrangement of space monsters of various colors or types. You can tap to select the outermost or top monster, then tap another platform with an empty space to move it there. The rule of movement is usually: you can only move a monster to an empty space or onto a monster of the exact same color/type (provided there is enough space left on that platform). You win the level when all space monsters are perfectly sorted by color or type into their own dedicated areas. As levels increase, more monster types appear, empty spaces decrease, and the logical difficulty ramps up.
Beginner Tips
- Find empty spaces first: Early in the game, empty out a complete column or pod as quickly as possible. A completely empty area acts like a 'wildcard', a crucial transit hub for moving any monster.
- Observe bottom monsters: Before moving the top monsters, look at the colors of the ones buried at the very bottom and plan ahead on how to free them.
- Don't merge blindly: Immediately stacking two monsters of the same color isn't always good. Sometimes you need them separated to act as stepping stones for other monsters.
- Use the Undo feature: Most of these games offer a limited or unlimited 'Undo' button. If you hit a dead end, immediately backtrack a few steps and try again.
- Stop and think: Since there is no timer, don't tap frantically. Mentally simulate your next three or four moves before executing them.
Advanced Strategy
The art of empty bottle management: Never easily fill your only empty bottle (empty space) with a random color. Only use an empty space if you are certain you can empty it again immediately or if it completes a final color collection.
Prioritize monochrome blocks: If a platform has two or three monsters of the same color stacked consecutively, moving them first can instantly expose a large amount of space below.
Identify deadlocks: If you notice that all monsters of a specific color are buried under other colors, with none on top, it usually means you must reset a previous move.
Common Mistakes
Playing move-by-move: This is the most common cause of deadlocks. Uniting two red monsters right now might completely block your only green exit pathway.
Over-relying on restart: Hitting 'restart level' at the slightest difficulty instead of using 'undo' to find the logical flaw, preventing puzzle-solving skills from improving.
Ignoring rule details: Sometimes forgetting that platforms have capacity limits, trying to move a monster only to find it doesn't fit, ruining the original plan.
