Slices
What is this game?
Slices is an intensely satisfying and visually appealing casual puzzle clearing game. The core gameplay involves placing food-themed slices (like pizza or fruit) onto six plates; completing a full circle clears it and scores points. It combines the planning aspect of Tetris with the stress-relief of fruit-slicing games, perfect for players who enjoy quick reflexes and spatial organization. With no complex story, it's pure high-score chasing, taking 1 to 3 minutes per round, making it an ideal commute time-killer.
How to Play
Various sized 'slices' (e.g., 1/6th, half-circles) continuously spawn in the center of the screen. Around the center are six empty plates. You tap a plate to place the central slice onto it. When a plate is completely filled forming a full circle, it gets 'eaten' and cleared, also clearing adjacent plates (creating a combo effect) and awarding points. The game ends if a spawned slice cannot fit onto any of the six plates due to lack of continuous space. You must quickly judge and efficiently distribute each slice.
Beginner Tips
- Don't put all eggs in one basket: Distribute slices evenly across all six plates to avoid one plate getting too full early and rejecting large slices.
- Watch the center preview: The center usually gives a tiny preview of the next incoming slice. Use this info to plan the current slice's placement.
- Prioritize large chunks: When dealing with half-circles or massive slices, prioritize putting them in the emptiest plates to prevent getting stuck later.
- Aim for combos: Completing one plate clears adjacent ones. Try to leave several plates 'one slice away from full' and clear them all in one fell swoop.
- Stay calm: As your score rises, thinking time decreases. Don't tap frantically; pausing for half a second to see the shape is better than blind placement.
Advanced Strategy
Symmetrical placement: Try to maintain symmetry within the plates. This way, no matter what shape arrives, there's a high probability it will fit.
Control clearing rhythm: Don't clear plates instantly. If two large pieces are coming, keep a nearly full plate as a 'bomb', placing the big pieces first, then detonating.
Edge crisis management: When five plates are nearly full, use the last empty plate strictly as a buffer zone to dump awkwardly shaped junk slices.
Common Mistakes
Mindless tapping: Habitually tapping the same direction for every slice, rapidly filling and deadlocking one plate while the others remain completely empty.
Ignoring massive slices: Focusing only on piecing together small slices, only to find zero continuous space across all six plates when a 'half-circle' arrives.
Ignoring the 'next' preview: Completely ignoring the preview of the next slice and taking up the exact empty spot needed for it with the current slice.
