Pretty Tiles
What is this game?
Pretty Tiles is a casual puzzle game that combines traditional Mahjong solitaire with modern match-3 mechanics. Unlike classic swipe-to-match games, here you select and tap ornate tiles from a stacked pile, placing them into a collection slot below. Once three tiles with the identical pattern are in the slot, they are cleared. With its beautiful art and relaxing vibe, it's perfectly suited for fans of Mahjong solitaire, item organization, and those who enjoy matching games without time pressure. It's an excellent choice for relaxing your brain while listening to a podcast.
How to Play
The center of the screen features a layered stack of tiles printed with beautiful patterns (e.g., fruits, flowers, desserts). At the bottom is a collection slot with 7 empty spaces. The controls are simple: tap any tile in the center pile that isn't completely covered by others (and is brightly lit), and it will fly into the bottom slot. When 3 identical tiles gather in the slot, they are cleared. Your goal is to clear every single tile from the board. However, if the 7 slots at the bottom get completely filled with unmatched tiles and you can't make a match of three, the game ends in failure.
Beginner Tips
- Look around before taking: Don't just tap whatever you see. Before tapping a tile, verify if you can see two other identical tiles in the pile to ensure they can be cleared quickly.
- Control slot clutter: Try not to let your bottom slot accumulate more than 4 different types of patterns. Too many varieties greatly increase the risk of getting stuck.
- Prioritize unlocking the stacked center: The center of the pile is usually the thickest. Prioritize clearing the top tiles that block lower layers to free up more available options.
- Use peripheral tiles as buffers: Tiles on the outside not covering others can be saved as 'backups'. When you have two matching tiles in the slot and desperately need a third, peripheral tiles can be lifesavers.
- Don't panic, no time limits: This game rarely has strict time limits. Take a deep breath, carefully look for tile edges hidden in the shadows, and tap only when certain.
Advanced Strategy
Predicting underlying cards: This is a core pro skill. Guess what pattern is hidden underneath by looking at exposed corners. Sometimes you must intentionally take two useless cards just to uncover the crucial card beneath that will clear your slot.
The art of slot management (card holding): Intentionally leaving two matching cards in the slot without grabbing the third, keeping them as 'occupants' until you must dig out deeper cards. It's advanced spatial management trading slot space for deep resources.
Ultimate use of shuffle boosters: Absolutely do not use shuffle or undo boosters until a complete dead end (1 empty slot left and no matches visible). Treat them as your absolute last resort.
Common Mistakes
Blind digging: Tapping a card and putting it in the slot just to see what's underneath it, only to find it's not what you wanted, uselessly wasting a precious slot space.
Over-focusing on one pattern: Staring intently trying to find a third 'apple', ignoring that three 'bananas' are already blatantly exposed waiting to be tapped, causing rigid thinking.
Carelessness near the end: Feeling like it's a sure win when only a dozen cards are left, tapping randomly, and ending up putting 7 different unmatching cards into the slot, failing miserably.
